As part of the Stafforce Academy, we have a “Licence to operate” (L2O). It’s a Level 3 Apprenticeship that’s been developed by internal champions who have identified what represents quality in the recruitment industry and captured this within a revolutionary new qualification. For employees it’s an opportunity to learn more or improve on the skills they have in the business… and ultimately to use these skills in our every day job, to that show we, as a business are different from the rest!
The L2O started with the first cohort last year, and as it was coming to close, employees were invited to apply for the second intake.
At first, I hadn’t really thought of applying, but it was my Manager who advised me to do it. The reason I was unsure, was because I thought it was mainly to do with training consultants who are first line recruiters in the business – and the legislation they have to follow in order to make sure that each candidate was treated right and fairly. As I’m in Marketing, I didn’t see the connection for this training to my job role… how wrong I was!
The first session was an introduction to the course and we were set a task to write our personal statement around the role of the employment sector. This is when I came to realise that what I do in marketing does make a big difference in the world of recruitment; from the messages that are conveyed, to the right advertisements and language used. It made me feel more important and valued in my job role.
I’ve been given the opportunity to expand my knowledge and understanding of the recruitment industry and to better use this in the future so that I can assist the Marketing Manager with future project, so we can make a difference to the business.
Of course, I could use flowery words to explain how the L2O is helping me, so it will look good to others and Stafforce will look good for it…but I won’t because all I need to say is it’s one of many parts of this business that I’m proud to be a part of and I’m looking forward to completing the L2O and being a stronger marketer for the business.
Keep a look out for more blogs on my journey through the L2O!
